About RIGAVA Drukāt

Welcome to "Rīgava"!

"Rīgava" establishment is the home of all social and cultural events in Salaspils. We also provide rooms for dancing, singing and other classes. "Rīgava" was built as a place for cultural activities in the year 1967. The cultural events were hosted here both: while Latvia was a part of Soviet Union and continued when it became independent. The main goal of "Rīgava" to promote artistic values and popular traditions as well as providing the citizens of Salaspils a chance to express themselves artistically.
Building was renovated four years ago: the rooms were improved and the building was expanded by adding an additional third floor.
We have the rooms for practising, educational seminars, meetings and lessons. If needed, we provide a wide screen a projector and, of course, all through the building you can access wireless internet.
Big hall - the place where performances, such as: concerts, dance evenings, theatre and movie viewings take place. We invite not only latvian performers but also foreigners. For example, we welcomed a professional famous brazilian percussionist Tjago Loei, but in cooperation with the Danish Cultural Institute, we will be the hosts to the Youth String Orchestra from Copenhagen.
Culture Centre "Rīgava" is the home of 18 amateur groups: choir, folk dance groups, modern dance and vocal ensembles. All together there are more than 300 participants. There are activities to choose from for people of all age groups – from children to retired people.
There are many possibilities for dancers, specially for folk dance. There are childrens folk dance groups from ages 3 to 13 which are called "Sienāzītis". For teenagers we have folk dance groups "Austriņš" and "Ūsiņš". For the middle-aged there is a folk dance group "Ūsa" and a senior folk dance group "Rīgava". We also have a modern dance group "Buras". For singers we have a choir called "Elpa", children vocal ensembles "Vālodzīte" and "Dzeltenā zemūdene". Our choir and dance groups are very active in taking part at both local and international festivals, competitions and have shown very good results.
